McCain VERSUS Palin: Total GOP Meltdown?

In breaking news today, a widening rift seems to be developing between Sarah Palin and John McCain; you can read the entire story here.

Palin has been going “off-script”, according to McCain staffers. She’s a “diva”. “Over the weekend, sources told CNN that long-brewing tensions between Palin and key aides to McCain were on the rise… Several McCain advisers suggested that they have become increasingly frustrated with what one aide described as Palin ‘going rogue’.”

Wow! Palin’s gone off the res!

“A Palin associate, however, said the candidate is simply trying to ‘bust free’ of what she believes was a damaging and mismanaged roll-out.”

What does that mean? She balked at toeing the “party line” because it conflicted with her basic conservatism?

“McCain sources say Palin has gone off-message several times, and they privately wonder whether the incidents were deliberate. They cited an instance in which she labeled robocalls -- recorded messages often used to attack a candidate's opponent – ‘irritating’ even as the campaign defended their use. Also, they pointed to her telling reporters she disagreed with the campaign's decision to pull out of Michigan… A second McCain source says she appears to be looking out for herself more than the McCain campaign.”

Gee… she can read the handwriting on the wall: the Titanic’s sinking! Man the lifeboats!

"Also, she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: Divas trust only unto themselves, as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom."

Or maybe, in the case of THIS ticket, of real conservatism.

“A Palin associate… acknowledged that Palin is trying to take more control of her message”.

As well she should as she realizes that she doesn’t want to be tarred with McCain’s essential RINOism.

“CNN contributor and Republican strategist Ed Rollins said Palin was ‘mishandled…She definitely is going to be the most popular Republican in this country when this thing is over’.”

Which means…………not McCain!

“(T)wo sources, one Palin associate and one McCain adviser, defended the decision to keep her media interaction limited after she was picked, both saying flatly that she was not ready and that the missteps could have been a lot worse.

“They insisted that she needed time to be briefed on national and international issues and on McCain's record.”

Um…. Why, then, was she selected in the first place?

"’Her lack of fundamental understanding of some key issues was dramatic,’ said another McCain source with direct knowledge of the process to prepare Palin after she was picked. The source said it was probably the ‘hardest’ to get her ‘up to speed than any candidate in history’."

In other words, she was a dummy, but we picked her anyway out of desperation.

In reality, it was a Hail Mary that didn’t work, damage control for the incipient disaster is already gearing up, and it’s time to throw Palin under the bus.

What happened to all the “honor” with which McCain was supposedly imbued? He’s not beating Obama on the issues – in all reality because there really isn’t much difference between them – so he has to resort to cheap smear tactics and guilt by association. His desperation naming of Palin as his running mate to try to secure conservative support didn’t work – because it was seen as the cheap political trick it really is – so now he’s setting her up as the straw man. And getting INDIGNANT when she fights back, to boot!

Man… if THIS guy’s your “friend”, who needs enemies?

John Quincy Adams on Third-Party Voting

“Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost.”

I guess Adams, the son of one of the Founding Fathers and our sixth President, was a man who “didn’t love his country” and was too stupid to realize that his vote “for principle” was actually a vote for the 19th Century equivalent of Obama. I guess Adams was too dense to grasp that he was supposed to “support his party first”, otherwise he was “throwing his vote away”. That there are “only two viable parties”, though in his lifetime he was actually – at one time or another – a member of five. That he was making himself “irrelevant”.

Yeah, he was just a fool. We can dismiss him.

Universal Healthcare Fails in Hawaii

In a refreshing burst of reality, on Friday the state of Hawaii announced the cancellation of its universal healthcare plan for children, the only program of its kind in the nation. Read the full story here

It seems the program was no longer affordable to the state, and people who already had insurance were canceling it to take advantage of the state freebie.

Gee…… who’da thunk THAT would happen?

The Best Little Cathouse in DC!

Back in 1990, the Government seized the Mustang Ranch brothel in Nevada for tax evasion and, as required by law, tried to run it. They failed and it closed. Now we are trusting the economy of our country to a pack of nit-wits who couldn't make money running a cathouse and selling booze?

(Thanks to our buddy Buck, who emailed that to me!)

It's SuperBam!

Faster than a speeding stock market crash! More powerful than a functional republic! Able to leap tall constitutional obstacles in a single bound!

Look!… Up in the sky!

It’s a bird!… It’s a plane!….It’s SuperBam!

Strange visitor from another planet, who came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal politicians! SuperBam! ... who can change the course of mighty historical imperatives, bend Congress in his bare hands; and who, disguised as Barack Obama, mild-mannered candidate for one of two political parties, fights a never-ending battle for lies, inequality, and the Communist way!

*          *            *            *

Yep! That’s the level of discourse we face right now. If it’s THAT obvious, how come over HALF the American people haven’t tuned into it? This is a country that’s noted WORLDWIDE for our political acumen. We’re the STANDARD for political freedom, and our jealous guarding of same. THIS is the country that people are literally dying to immigrate into.

What’s wrong with this picture?

McIdiocy: A $300 Billion “Mortgage Bailout”

I didn’t watch last night’s snooze-fest, but I read the reports this morning, including McCain’s call for a “mortgage bailout”. The reports were conflicting as to whether this was ANOTHER $300 billion, or the direction of part of the already-passed $700 billion. Either way, here’s the question in my mind:

So you want to give preferential treatment to people who make bad financial decisions, at taxpayer expense?

What about the people who have been successfully making the payments on their homes for years, and continue to do so, even at "higher" interest rates? They're just screwed?

Consider:

Two families buy identical homes at identical prices and have identical mortgages. Both houses have declined equally in value.

One makes all their payments on time. The other family hasn't made a single payment for six months, and is on the verge of repossession.

It's okay with you that the government gives the flakes a new mortgage at lower interest rates based on a lower home value therefore a lower balance, while the responsible family has to struggle along with their original mortgage?

Is that where we are now? We penalize responsibility, while rewarding stupidity?

How anyone can claim the guy's ANY kind of conservative and keep a straight face is beyond me.

He deserves to lose on the basis of sheer stupidity ALONE.

MSM joins the Revolt!

Imagine my surprise in reading the following lead Editorial in Sunday’s LA Daily News (LA’s #2 rag): (here)

“Anger to Action”

(Excerpts):

“IT took a near meltdown of the economy and the single most naked example of corporate welfare to do it, but the people of America are furious.

“When voters turn out in large numbers, who knows what might happen next? And collectively we can use our numbers to shake up the political class so deeply they won't recover for a few election cycles. Don't like either Barack Obama or John McCain very much right now? Cast a vote for Bob Barr. The Libertarian presidential candidate might be an odd choice, but would surely bring change to the White House.

“Don't like what legislators have legislated? Then vote out incumbents whenever you can. If you're a Democrat, vote for a Republican; if you're Republican, try a Democrat for once. Why not? Could things be much worse?

“Do whatever you can to make sure that the political class stops taking voters for granted. Until the people turn their anger into action at the ballot box, we will continue to get leaders who are disconnected from their constituents.”

Looks like the Daily News is ready to join the SCDS!

“Mr. Anti-Pork McCain” and the Bailout Bill

From an article on the Townhall website by Sara Kugler:

“Republican presidential candidate John McCain, who insists he would veto any pork barrel bills to come across his desk as president, is struggling to explain his vote for the revised financial bailout plan that contained a number of those pet projects.

“In an interview on MSNBC's 'Morning Joe' program Thursday, McCain said the extra sweeteners added to the financial bailout bill that passed Wednesday night in the Senate are ‘just the way the system is working in Washington, and the reason why it's got to be fixed and it's got to be changed.’”

Well, McCain............ THAT is the very rationalization that's used for EVERY pork-laden bill, you moron!

What a freakin dim bulb.

And HYPOCRITE!

MORE McCain Bravo Sierra.  Here's the link:

"McCain: Bailout just temporary bandage"

"Republican presidential candidate John McCain says the $700 billion government bailout that Congress passed is just a temporary fix and the nation's economy is hurting badly."

In other words: THIS Big Government incursion into liberty and the free market is only THE FIRST STEP.

This guy's AT LEAST as bad as Obambi. What say you, noseholders?
